This week we’re taking Wine Wednesday to the Himalayas. I'll be joined by The Bhutan Wine Company, the pioneers behind Bhutan’s very first vineyards and inaugural vintage.
Since planting vines in 2019, they’ve expanded to nine sites across Bhutan — from 500 ft to over 9,000 ft elevation — cultivating 16 varietals from Pinot Noir to Chenin Blanc. Their debut has already made headlines at Sotheby’s and marked Bhutan as one of the most exciting new regions to watch.
We’ll talk about what it means to build a wine industry from the ground up, the challenges of extreme-altitude terroir, and why Bhutan could be the next great story in wine.
