Wine Wednesday Recap — A Bordeaux Futures Deep Dive with Jane Anson 🍇
This week’s Wine Wednesday was something special. I got to sit down with Jane Anson (https://janeanson.com/)— one of the most trusted voices in Bordeaux — for a conversation that blended deep regional knowledge, market context, and a few important dVIN updates along the way.
If you care about how tradition meets transformation in wine, this one’s for you.
Jane’s perspective was especially timely, coming just after the 2024 En Primeur campaign. Whether you’re a long-time collector or just getting curious about wine as an asset class, she brought the kind of context only decades in the region can offer.
🍇 The Enduring Power of the Left Bank
Jane reminded us that back in 2010, Bordeaux made up almost 90% of the investment-grade wine market — and the Left Bank led that charge. Pauillac, Margaux, Saint-Julien… the classics. While the global market has diversified since, these wines still anchor portfolios and age like, well, Bordeaux.
📉 2024 En Primeur: Cool Vintage, Cooler Prices
This year’s En Primeur brought structure, freshness, and restraint — classic in all the right ways. But what really turned heads was the pricing. Jane called it “underpriced for once,” with several estates clearly reading the room. If you’re building a cellar for the long game, this vintage deserves a spot.
🍷 What We Were Drinking
Jane brought a Sicilian red from Monte Carubo — a project by a former Bordeaux winemaker that added a nice twist to the conversation. I had two bottles lined up: a 2014 Château La Lagune and a 2020 Carbonnieux Blanc. With sunshine pouring through and Jane casting the deciding vote, the white won.
🔗 What’s cooking at dVIN
I also shared some behind-the-scenes updates:
– Our first tokenized wine marketplace is set to launch mid-June
– $50M in fine wine will be tokenized and tradeable by year’s end
– We’re laying the foundation for a global order book for wine — one protocol, transparent pricing, and finally, unified liquidity for wine.
The future is looking efficient. We’re not disrupting the Bordeaux model — we’re amplifying it with infrastructure that builds on trust and transparency.
