A little April Fools moment, some good banter, and then we got into what is easily one of the most exciting drops we’ve had in a while:
Château Ausone 2022.
If you know Bordeaux, you know the name.
Ausone is one of the most sought-after wines from Saint-Émilion, and part of what makes it so special is just how little of it exists. The estate sits on just 7 hectares, which puts it closer to a boutique producer than a large château.
Small scale, global demand.
That combination rarely leaves much room for availability.

Why This Drop Stands Out 🍷
During the livestream, Rodolfo walked through what makes Ausone different.
First, the style: This is a Right Bank wine, with a blend leaning heavily on Cabernet Franc & Merlot, which is less common in Saint-Émilion and gives the wine its structure and complexity.
Second, the philosophy: Ausone made the bold decision to step away from the Saint-Émilion classification in recent years. A move that raised questions at the time, but one that hasn’t changed how collectors view the estate.
Reputation, in this case, speaks for itself.
