The 2022 vintage marks a historic milestone for Château Figeac—it is the exact vintage that celebrated the estate’s official ascension to the top of the classification system as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A.
The Cabernet Footprint: While the Right Bank is famously dominated by Merlot, Figeac sits on unique, deep gravel beds that allow Cabernet to thrive.
The “Three Thirties” Blend: The exact architecture of this 2022 vintage is a meticulously balanced blend of 35% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc, and 31% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Approachability Paradox: Cabernet-heavy blends tasted so young en primeur can often be notoriously austere and exhausting on the palate. However, having recently tasted it at the chateau, the 2022 completely shatters expectations with a shocking, harmonious approachability right out of the gate while maintaining decades of aging potential.
The Critical Score: Sourced with flawless provenance, the vintage secured a brilliant 98–100 point score from The Wine Advocate. To quote French satirist Pierre Desproges, it’s a wine that “makes you believe there’s a god”.
The allocation was released to members in single-bottle lots. Because Figeac is the historical land from which Cheval Blanc was born, this 100-point vintage is an essential cornerstone for serious portfolios.
