Bhutan Is Growing Grapes at 9,000 Feet—And Making History
What a night! Yesterday we went live with two very special guests: Mike Jurgens and Ann Cross, the founders of the Bhutan Wine Company.
From planting the first vines in 2019 to growing across sites as high as 9,000 feet, Bhutan is already shaping up to be one of the world’s most exciting new wine regions. Sixteen grape varieties are thriving there—nine reds and seven whites—and they’ve already made headlines with releases like their first commercial Chenin Blanc and even a one-of-a-kind Himalaya bottle auctioned at Sotheby’s.
As I said last night: this is wine history in the making, and Mike and Ann are writing the first chapter. ✨
