Wine Wednesday Recap: I Sodi di S. Niccolò 2019 & Unlocking Your Taste Profile 🇮🇹🦅
A completely indigenous 100-point rival to Masseto, the power of hard clay soils, and a tour of the highly tailored features inside our new platform.
Yesterday’s Wine Wednesday live broadcast was a milestone, as we celebrated day eight of our open platform sipping on a 2015 Riesling Brut from Marcus Molitor and Annabelle’s newly released 2024 biodynamic Garnacha from Vinos de Bellite. Thanks to immediate feedback from our newly launched Collector Tier members, we are already fine-tuning the app experience daily 🙌
If you missed the stream, here is your official technical recap of the spectacular Tuscan library drop that went live for members yesterday 👇
The Drop: Castellare di Castellina ‘I Sodi di S. Niccolò’ 2019 (Magnum - 1.5L)
We built this new platform to collect better data on what our members actually want to collect—and the overwhelming consensus was a desire for world-class Tuscany. Yesterday, we answered that demand with an allocation of I Sodi di S. Niccolò 2019, delivered exclusively in magnificent 1.5L Magnums.
The Indigenous Super Tuscan: Crafted entirely from native varieties—85% Sangioveto and 15% Malvasia Nera—proudly bypassing Chianti DOCG rules to step into the elite IGT classification. It famously became the first Italian wine to ever break into the Wine Spectator Top 100 with its 1988 vintage.
The Magic of “Hard Soil”: Named for its compacted clay and limestone vineyard (sodi means hard soil), which retains water during hot summers to produce exceptionally fine, silky tannins and vibrant freshness.
The Endangered Bird Labels: The estate operates as a strict, chemical-free wildlife refuge where hunting is banned, featuring a different local endangered bird on the label of each vintage.
The Magnum Advantage: Sourced directly from estate vaults with perfect provenance, these Magnums offer superior aging potential due to a slower oxygen exchange through the cork. Give it a couple of hours in a decanter before serving.
Feature Spotlight: Custom Curation & Your Tasting Journey
Now that the public gates are officially open, members are logging in and customizing their experience with our newest live features:
Tailored Taste Profiles: Complete your wine profile in-app so we can see exactly what regions and producers our members are wishlisting, allowing us to negotiate direct-to-producer allocations tailored strictly to your tastes.
Digital Corks vs. Soldiers: Your digital cellar tracks your bottle’s evolution. Wines resting at Bordeaux City Bond exist as Digital Corks; once you request shipping and pop the cork, a single click moves it into your personal tasting history as a Soldier.
Direct-to-Chateau Perks: Joining gives you a direct ticket to unrivaled, negotiated pricing on investment-grade wines with perfect provenance, stored in pristine conditions at Bordeaux City Bond until you request shipping.
